Teachers, Supply, Support Staff (Contact) and Students |
Teachers/Students go to their classroom or other place of safety and lock the door, windows and draw all blinds. |
Teacher takes register and remains with students. |
Teachers, Supply and Support Staff (Non-Contact) |
Staff make way to nearest work room, classroom, office or meeting room and lock the door, windows and draw all blinds. |
Emails will be used to update staff. Lockdown alarm will re-sound to signal Stage 2 lockdown. |
STAGE 2 – Lockdown |
Complete instructions from Stage 1 Lockdown and continue with the instructions below: |
Staff/Students sit quietly out of sight (e.g. under a desk or around a corner). |
Staff encourage students to keep calm. |
Staff/Students ensure that all phones are turned to silent. |
Staff/Students turn off all screens. |
Staff/Students to remain quiet to avoid attracting attention. |
Should the fire alarm sound, staff/students should not evacuate unless there is clear evidence of a fire in their area. |
Staff/Students await further instructions. Staff should avoid unnecessary calls to senior management or reception as this could delay more important communication. |
Headteacher will conduct an ongoing and dynamic risk assessment based on advice from the Emergency Services. |
STAFF/STUDENTS REMAIN IN LOCKDOWN UNTIL INSTRUCTED THAT THE LOCKDOWN HAS ENDED, EVEN IF THE ALARM HAS STOPPED SOUNDING |
Staff will be notified of the lockdown being lifted by either a senior member of staff or the Emergency Services. |
Following lockdown staff/students will attend an additional registration period immediately, which will last for 20 minutes, unless it is the end of the school day. Social times will be adapted to accommodate the registration period. |
